Changing roof bar seals VW Touran, Golf estate

Time: 45min

Tool :

1. One set of gaskets ( 1K9 860 151 for Golf V estate ) or 1T0 860 151 for Touran
2. 13″ socket
3. Ratchet wrench
4. 13″ open-end wrench
5. Remover
6. Degreaser (white vinegar)
7. A spatula or something to scrape with
8. Heat gun

1 – Remove roof rack covers

Remove the roof rack covers from the ends using a plastic tool or blue card.

Lift them at the ends to remove them.

2 – Unscrew the fixing screws

Unscrew the front and rear fixing screws using the 13″ socket.

3 – Remove central roof bar cover

4 – Unscrew the central fixing screw.

5 – Removing the roof rack from the vehicle

6 – Remove old joints by peeling them off

Thoroughly clean the surface of adhesive residues

I used a heat gun to remove most of the glue and then solvent.

Use white vinegar to degrease the area where we’ll be gluing the new joints.

7 – Gluing the new joints

Bond all new joints after removing the protective film

8 – Reassemble in reverse order
