What are the signs of a worn roof bar seal?<\/h2>\n\n

High-speed hissing, water infiltration or vibrating noises are often signs that your seals need replacing.<\/p>\n\n

  1. One set of gaskets ( 1K9 860 151 for Golf V estate ) or 1T0 860 151 for Touran<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. 13″ socket<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Ratchet wrench<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. 13″ open-end wrench<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Remover <\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Degreaser (white vinegar)<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. A spatula or something to scrape with<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Heat gun<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n

    Steps to replace Touran roof bar seals<\/h2>\n\n

    1 – Remove roof rack covers<\/h3>\n\n

    Remove the roof rack covers from the ends using a plastic tool or blue card.<\/p>\n

    Lift them at the ends to remove them.<\/p>\n\n

    2 – Unscrew the fixing screws<\/h3>\n

    Unscrew the front and rear fixing screws using the 13″ socket.<\/p>\n\n

    3 – Remove central roof bar cover<\/h3>\n

    4 – Unscrew the central fixing screw.<\/h3>\n

    5 – Removing the roof rack from the vehicle<\/h3>\n

    6 – Remove old joints by peeling them off<\/h3>\n\n

    Thoroughly clean the surface of adhesive residues<\/p>\n

    I used a heat gun to remove most of the glue and then solvent.<\/p>\n

    Use white vinegar to degrease the area where we’ll be gluing the new joints.<\/p>\n\n

    7 – Gluing the new joints<\/h3>\n\n

    Take your time, work in dry weather, and make sure surfaces are thoroughly clean before laying the new joints.<\/p>\n
